Our Commitment to Sustainability
As a company reliant on paper and card we are conscious of our environmental impact and make a number of responsible choices to ensure this impact is as small as possible.
Packaging
We do not purchase single-use plastics for use as packaging. We may reuse packaging that has been sent to us.
Outer packaging is recyclable and cards are packed in plant-based biodegradable cellos.
We often re-use packaging we receive from suppliers - this is not an attempt to reduce our costs, we will always reuse wherever possible.
Paper, Envelopes & Cardstock
All of our paper, card and envelopes are FSC® certified. The FSC® helps take care of forests and the people and wildlife who call them home. This provides a guarantee to our customers that products purchased from Mickledale Lane come from well-managed and sustainable forests.
Our cardstock and envelopes are acid free, elemental chlorine free and recyclable.
Our seed paper is tree-free! We use 100% pre-consumer waste cotton that degrades naturally in the soil.
We either reuse or recycle all of our waste paper and cardstock.
RHS Plants for Pollinators Approved
Approved by the Royal Horticultural Society Plants for Pollinators scheme. This means that all of the wildflowers grown from our seeded paper are included on the RHS database of plants that are native and will encourage pollinators to your garden.
Why is this important? Wild bees and other pollinators are in decline. One way gardeners can help is by planting garden flowers that provide forage for a wide variety of pollinating insects So now you are not only reducing waste but are helping pollinators by using our greetings cards and wedding stationery! Look out for the RHS Plants for Pollinators logo when making your purchase - not all seeded paper is created equal.
